Welcome to VYI Cheer
Please always refer to the Headlines below for important/the latest VYI CHEER information.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vienna Youth Inc. Cheerleading is a fall/winter recreational cheer program for those wanting to gain basic to intermediate cheerleading skills. For VYI, it is not only our goal to have a program that supports Vienna Youth Football, but also a program for our more committed athletes to develop the skills necessary to go onto the next level. Cheerleading is no longer just considered crowd entertainment, but rather has evolved into a very competitive sport at all levels. We provide a program that will develop the cheer, dance and gymnastic skills necessary to succeed at the high school level and allow the participants to have a good time in the process.

Cheerleaders are grouped by age and ability. With VYI, you will develop your motion techniques, learn basic stunting, improve your jumps and learn a few fun sideline and dance routines.

Registrations for the Fall season will be available on-line beginning in May with practices begining in August.

VYI cheerleading is open to cheerleaders entering Kindergarten in the Fall thru 9th grade.

Field and Facility Conduct
by posted 05/01/2010

Dear Parents and Coaches,

VYI has received some complaints concerning the behavior of some parents, coaches and/or children using area sports facilities. While many of these complaints are eventually discovered to be related to other sports that are not related to VYI, we want to ensure our members continue to be respectful of the neighborhoods, schools, and parks that host our practices and events. Some of the specific complaints we’ve received include:
  • Parking in front of neighborhood houses and obstructing resident access
  • Walking through private property
  • Generally disturbing the peace and quiet of the people living around the fields and gyms

As stated previously, we don’t know if any of the incidents reported involve VYI parents, coaches or children but it is appropriate that we establish guidelines so that everyone knows what is expected of them. Anything a parent, coach or player does while attending a VYI activity reflects on VYI and all of us individually.

Use of area gyms and fields is a privilege not a right. VYI has an excellent reputation in the community and because of that we enjoy certain privileges. It is imperative that we maintain this reputation. We are guests in these neighborhoods and must conduct ourselves accordingly.

We will be amending the parents Code of Conduct rules to spell out specific expectations but here are some rules that we must all follow:

  • Parking on residential side streets is only permitted when all lots adjacent to a facility are full.
  • Do not park in the designated SACC (School Age Child Care) parking areas in school parking lots
  • When it is necessary to park on a neighborhood street we must be quiet and respectful of the residents and their property. This means there should be no yelling, littering or trespassing on private property.
  • Never park in such a way as to block a driveway or otherwise obstruct the resident from leaving their home or parking in front of it.
  • Make sure we leave each facility clean and free of trash.
  • Be a leader. If you witness inappropriate behavior intervene and report to a coach or commissioner as appropriate.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that we have continued access to the facilities that are vital to our sports programs.

Skirt      VYI Provides
Pom Poms VYI Provides
Red turtleneck Cheerleader Provides
Black Cheer briefs Cheerleader Provides
Socks Cheerleader Provides
Cheer Shoe Cheerleader Provides

The uniform is to be worn at games only (not to practices, to school or as a Halloween costume).  When the weather gets cooler, black leggings may be worn under the skirt. Red, white or black gloves may also be worn. Generally, the colder it gets, the more we wear under the uniform.

**  VYI provides each cheerleader with a VYI uniform and pom‑pom set for the season. At the time of uniform distribution, a deposit check of $150 will collected from every cheerleader.  At the end of the last game of the season, your Coach will arrange to collect the shell, skirt, and pom-poms. If they are not returned by November 24 the deposit check will be cashed and any bank fees will be charged to your VYI account. If the uniform and poms are returned on time by November 24, the deposit check will be shredded. Also, cheerleaders will be charged a replacement fee if a uniform is returned in unusable condition.
